Specifying works for your emergency lighting system

Specifying works for your emergency lighting system

Information regarding using third party certified companies for your emergency lighting system requirements.

BAFE considers that as with all of the SP203 schemes all four of the modules are important, but that the maintenance of emergency lighting of exiting systems has been especially overlooked. Once in place, ensure you maintain this system to provide crucial assistance in the event of fire.

The SP203 schemes are made up of four modules: Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance. These four modules recognise the different skills needed for client requirements. Fire protection companies can gain certification in all modules or chosen individual modules depending on the services they offer. It is recommended to specify what area companies should be certified in for your desired works. BAFE registered companies will be certified via one of two UKAS accredited certification bodies:

• BSI (British Standards Institution)
• NSI (National Security Inspectorate)

Specify: BAFE registration for Emergency Lighting Systems (SP203-4) Scheme + What modules you require (Design, Installation, Commissioning and/or Maintenance)

You can verify a company’s BAFE registration(s) via the BAFE website search tool or by contacting the BAFE office info@bafe.org.uk / call 0844 335 0897
