Revision of BS 5839-1

Wednesday 27th September 2017

Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems in non-domestic premises.

As many of you may know, BS 5839-1 has been undergoing a revision and following the consultation period the Standard has now been published.

BS 5839-1:2017 can be found on the BSI website here

This new version should now be referenced when completing works for fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings in line with the BAFE SP203-1 scheme document.

Your Certification Body will be able to provide technical support on the Standard.

As a result of the revision BAFE has not considered it necessary at this time to update its SP203-1 Scheme for Fire Detection & Alarm Systems.
