Hackitt Review update seminar - FPA Event

Information from the Fire Protection Association (FPA):


The Fire Protection Association, renowned for bringing together industry professionals to provide expert guidance, is holding the Hackitt Review Update Seminar in central London on Monday 3rd December. Highlighting the implications on British Standards and testing, product selection and legislative change and the impact this may have on business, the event is aimed at those concerned with the implications of the Government response to the Hackitt Review.


Commenting on the timeliness of the seminar, Fire Protection Association Managing Director Jonathan O’Neill said:


“We are eagerly awaiting the government’s implementation plan for the Hackitt Review. And we want assurance that systems are in place to regularly review building standards to ensure that the UK can never experience a tragedy on the scale we witnessed at Grenfell – on our or any future generations’ watch.”


The event will be chaired by BAFE’s Douglas Barnett and speakers include:

  • Professor Richard Hull – University of Central Lancashire - Should toxicity be a consideration in product selection?
  • Nigel Chantler – Residential Sprinkler Association - How the residential sprinkler market is gearing up for higher demand whilst maintaining standards and ensuring system integrity
  • Raman Chagger, Bre - Report on Fire Industry Association sponsored research
  • Howard Passey, Fire Protection Association – Consideration of legislative change post Hackitt
  • Brian Martin, Building Regulations Advisory Committee – Building Regulations Advisory Committee update

Learning outcomes on the day will include:


  • Clarification on the direction the built environment is headed following one of the worst fire tragedies in modern times
  • Understanding of the outcomes of current testing and research
  • Understanding how regulatory changes may impact your business
